Corporators shy away from cleanliness drive,Mayor pins hope on NGOs
With not much response from corporators,Mayor Vaishali Bankar is looking forward to NGOs to make her cleanliness drive Loknete Yashwantrao Chavan Pune Shahar Swachata Abhiyan successful across the city on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),has approached educational institutes,hospitals,IT companies,NGOs and housing societies to clean the city from 8 am to 10 am on Tuesday.
The meeting held on Friday regarding the drive received poor response from corporators.
The civic body said it would do all to make the drive a success.

Rallies have been planned across the city with one utility vehicle for each of the 15 wards. A loudspeaker would be installed on the vehicle to make announcement regarding the drive. Some schools across the city and industries from Hadapsar area have confirmed their participation, Bankar said.
